Very much worse off for a while at the start of the year in the UK until I was finally awarded my PIP benefit. So about the same money coming in, however because of rising costs - worse off still. 😢

1980s Brochure/magazine on demon possession?
by caves indoes anyone else remember a brochure/ magazine from the early 80s with stories of demon possessed individuals and spiritism ?
i dont think i saw it around very long.
it had a story about some lady having her head snapped around by a demon.

We still know of sisters who freak out if they hear of one or two others who buy 2nd hand furniture for upcycling. Or have been known to throw items in the bin when visiting the homes of other witnesses on learning they came out of an antique shop. This has made them local heroes in their congregation.
I always hoped they would come to my home so that I could show them my new age books and if they as much laid a finger on them I would have enjoyed kicking them off the premises! But they never came more's the pity.

Do Any JW's Still Use/Trust the Reasoning Book?

will the "slave" explain to their followers that such an invaluable "witnessing tool" is no longer to be used, or will they just revise it electronically to reflect "current truth?

The Reasoning Book was out of date when it was being used. It was embarrassing to me to be defending the blood issue with quotes from years before and seeing the obvious disbelief on the face of the householders.
As the post above says everyone was told that the grey Bible contained enough to replace the RS book. At least that's what I have been told.

player) and then he starts running ( and he picks up his foot like he's gonna take off) and you're glued to the TV - just waiting to see what will happen . . .and he makes it to the 30 then the 20 then the 10 yard line and he's at the one inch line and he stops. The guy with the ball stops and starts looking around for the game clock. And he yells how much time do I have left???
And you're staring at the TV in disbelief!!! !
What do you do?

(and Bro Jackson is yelling this at us from the stage.)
It was so hysterical - then he stops and says that's where you are. This system is dying. We are at the GREATEST EVENT in mankind's history and the universe is watching.
We're at the one inch line and some of us are stopping and looking around and wondering where we are in the stream of time.

Except, this same game has been played since the 1870s. So no, it didn't move me as my good friend probably hoped it would. And it just sounds farcical that everyone else thought it was a wonderful way of getting the point across.

Vanderhoven7, don't you just love them using the word SOON. If someone was told in the 1920s that they would see the end of all things SOON they would not have expected the system to still be rolling along nearly 100 years later.
Besides that famous ADV advertise the Kingdom talk focused on the Lord's Return of 1874. Something that the numerous reprints in later literature managed to hide by its careful use of .... abbreviating the original.

i saw in the 80s kids parents get talked to because of the kids having one or pjs with smurfs on them but other than the urban meme where did this come from?

I remember a circuit overseer saying parents shouldn't let their children see E.T. because in the opening scene the children pictured are playing Dungeons & Dragons.
I remember laughing too because our family used to watch the light hearted American comedy "Bewitched" about Samantha the witch with the twitchy nose. And then in a public talk about spiritism the speaker used Bewitched as an example of how subtle Satan the Devil was in luring children away to interest them in the dark arts.
Looking back I now realise so many things I heard from the platform was paranoid rubbish.
